For years, phishing emails were relatively easy to spot. Odd formatting. Broken English. A sender address that did not quite match. Employees trained on those signals developed a working instinct for what felt wrong.

Generative AI removes most of those signals. For Greater Sacramento organizations that sell to, partner with, or operate alongside public-sector entities, that creates a rising baseline of expected controls. Government agencies and their contractors and vendors are facing increased scrutiny around data handling, model use, access governance, and security posture. The expectation is flowing outward.
